Animal Spirit Guides

We all have Spirit Guides.  Master Teacher Guides are our primary support and guidance.  We also have Angelic Guides and Personal Guides that may be a deceased loved one watching over us.  In addition, guides may take the form of animals.  During the recent group workshop/hypnosis session here, "Meet Your Spirit Guides", there was an amazing array of beautiful and scared animals that appeared to the participants, so I decided to dedicate this edition of the newsletter to these special helpers.

In shamanism, our spirit guides serve many roles such as protectors, pathfinders and teachers. They are also known as animal totems and power animals.  Below are some of the animals that appeared to the participants and the wisdom associated with their spirits.

Cougar/Mountain Lion Wisdom:

  • Using leadership power wisely and without ego.
  • Balancing power, intention, strength.
  • Gaining self-confidence
  • Freedom from Guilt
  • Cunning

Wolf Wisdom:

  • Facing the end of one's cycle with dignity and courage
  • Death and rebirth
  • Spirit Teaching
  • Guidance and dreams and meditations
  • Instinct linked with intelligence

Dolphin Wisdom:

  • Knowledge of the sea
  • Patron of Sailors
  • Change
  • Wisdom
  • Balance
  • Harmony

Elephant's Wisdom:

  • Strength
  • Royalty
  • Connection to ancient wisdom
  • Removal of obstacles and barriers
  • Confidence
  • Patience
  • Using education opportunities

Bald Eagle's Wisdom:

  • Swiftness
  • Strength
  • Courage
  • Wisdom
  • Keen sight
  • Illumination of Spirit
  • Healing
  • Creation
  • Knowledge of magic
  • Ability to see hidden spiritual truth
  • Rising above material to see the spiritual
  • Connection to spirit guides
  • Great power and balance
  • Intuitive and creative spirit
  • Connection with higher truths

Horse's Wisdom:

  • Power
  • Stamina
  • Endurance
  • Faithfulness
  • Freedom to run free

Bear's Wisdom Includes:

  • Introspection
  • Healing

Dragonfly's Wisdom:

  • Mastery of life on the wing
  • Power of flight
  • Power to escape a blow
  • Understanding dreams

  • Seeing the truth
  • Swiftness

Dog's Wisdom:

  • Heals emotional wounds in humans
  • Understanding of the duality of doubt and faith
  • Companionship
  • Unquestioned loyalty
  • Love
  • Protection
  • Ability to smell trouble from a distance

Unicorn:

  • Purity
  • Innocence
  • Virginity
  • Connection to weather patterns
  • Connection to the forest spirits
  • Connection to the Faeries

Thoughts for the Month

The Rainbow Bridge

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side by side, they cross over together.
