Synchronicity, Serendipity

 And Contact From The Spirit World

Did the above caption catch your attention this month?  Then it is "no coincidence."  The definition of synchronicity, according to Carl Jung, is a meaningful coincidence of outer and inner events that are not themselves causally connected.  Serendipity is a word with similar meaning.  Serendipity is coincidence with purpose.  The gift of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for on a conscious level, yet, somehow they manifest in our lives. 

When people attend Reiki One and Two classes I always remind them to watch their dreams after the attunements as they will usually be more activated and with more meaning.  I also remind students to pay special attention to the synchronistic moments and/or encounters they have during the 21 days after class.  I remind students, however, that dreams and synchronistic events are Always there and if we are vigilant we can see it happen every day of our lives. 

An example of this is when you don't know what summer book to read and one falls off your office/library shelf one morning as you vacuum.  It happens to be a book that helps clarify some struggles you are having.  Or, a phone call or email comes from a friend you have lost contact with for many years.  While you converse with your old friend you hear of an employment opportunity that just "seems to fit" what you have been looking for in your life.  For whatever reason,  I believe that this summer edition of the newsletter needed to be devoted to this subject in the hopes we call can pay more attention to what our Angelic Guides and Spirit Guides are trying to manifest and help us with on a daily basis. 

Below are several stories and events that were shared with me a few years ago.  I have copied them again for this newsletter.

L.C. Writes:

"I have been in a sort of negative space about work, and not really centering myself at all, which as you know can be draining.  Anyway, the other night I came home from work and there was a book in my mail box sent by a publisher in California with a note to enjoy the book.  Well, the book is a fable of sorts about a guy who is getting bogged down by life's annoyances, and his negative view of his situation is fueling his anger, confusion etc.  He encounters an unlikely teacher along his path including a talking Owl.  The story is a little childish, but still a really great reminder of what you have always said,

"You Can Choose How You See This."

Also, I have been feeling Dads presence and thinking of him a lot.  With his anniversary coming up Saturday I can't help but think he has something to do with this.  So, thankfully I've gotten some perspective, and I am back on track."

Marcel Writes:

"When we lost our first pet, years ago, Dutch, a Weimaraner, we were both devastated and missed him very much.  At times when he needed to go out and we could not go with him, we would put him out on a run which was tied to the house.  When he was ready to come in, he would run up and down the steps.  He weighted about 80 pounds so we could hear him well when he did that.  During the first few weeks after he passed on, several times we looked at each other as we heard him coming up the steps.  I got up more than once to check out the steps thinking someone was at the door.  Of course, there was no one that could be seen."

The above two stories/emails were sent to me after I relayed the following incident to these two friends of a dog we had for many years.

Many of you met our dog Tickles who we referred to as part border collie part angel.  We were half serious about this as she did seem to have a special, angelic presence and energy to her.  Tickles crossed over to Spirit on May 30th at 4 p.m. which is the Numerical Numbers of Angels.  About two weeks later I was searching through my calling ID looking for a student's phone number.  I hadn't cleaned my caller ID out for over a month.  All of a sudden I noticed that on May 30th at 4 p.m. there was a call from "Visiting Angels" and a Candia NH phone number.  Precisely the same time Tickles had crossed to spirit.   I called the phone number to find out WHO this was.  It turned out it is a woman from a visiting nurse agency.  However, she had no recollection of calling our number and could not find anything in her records why she would have called....let alone why she had called on a Sunday and on Memorial Day weekend.  Coincidence...I don't think so.

Still not convinced.  A famous textbook example is when Carl Jung had a female patient who was hysterical and in the midst of recovering her sanity by explaining her dreams.  The woman began to recount a dream, in which a large beetle or scarab played a major role.  At that very moment, Jung was distracted by a scratching noise outside his window and glanced to see its source.  Outside of his treatment room window, Jung and his patient stared in amazement as a large beetle moved against the glass.  His patient saw this as a sign of recovery.  To Jung, it was another clue to how synchronicity may work. 

So take this summer to look around you.  When unusual, or powerful events come about during any transitions or every day life, stop and notice.  Ask what lesson or opportunity does this have for you.
