Shared Stories

Throughout the year, I receive papers and feedback from students that are fuel to my soul.  This month I will be sharing two inspiring stories.  If you have any news, or interesting things you would like to share for this newsletter, please email them to me.  This may include things that have occurred since your Reiki classes, positive changes you made with hypnosis, a "Forgiveness Forward" experience, or any experiences from the folks from the Power of Manifesting or How to Live a Darn Good Life Workshops.

Story (excerpts) from Ron:

"Let me say that I was skeptical when I first heard of Reiki and I was still a little leery when I took the class, but I did have an open mind.  I am glad that I took the class.  When I had the attunement done, that was amazing.  I have not felt that relaxed or serene in a such a long time.  I had forgotten what it was like to be calm and relaxed.  I felt something that I can't yet explain during that experience, and that has made me re-look at many things in my life.  I have been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for over six years, and I thought that I had spirituality, but I have noticed that I am much more in tune with my spirituality now then I was before.

I believe that I will continue on with Reiki, and I have been doing it on myself and my son since the class.  I have even done it to my boyfriend and it does work, and work well.  I guess that I always believed that the only healing that could ever take place was with a Doctor in a Hospital or in his office.   Now I really believe that isn't the entire truth.  I always knew that a person' mental attitude had a lot to do with the quickness and quality of her/her recovery and treatments, but I had never thought of this as a way to achieve that.

I am so glad that I took the class and I have since dedicated myself to using this daily in my own life.  I have felt a tremendous difference, both physically and mentally.  I had asked a former client of mine if he had ever heard or tried Reiki and he replied that he had heard of it, but thought that it was something from some sort of religious cult.  I explained to him what it involved and asked him if he thought he may like to give it a try.  He said sure, why not.  He trusts me and if I think that it may help, then he was willing to try it.  I went over to his home yesterday and we talked about it.  I asked him how he was sleeping because I knew from the past that he has had trouble sleeping.  I asked him to lie down in his bed and relax and to try and clear his mind.   He was lying there with his eyes closed and breathing slowly and that is when I started to do Reiki.  After about an hour of doing this, he said he felt better, a little more relaxed and calm.  I said that was good and I gave him a copy of the self treatments so he could try it on his own.  He called me this morning and said that he had tried it before going to bed and that he slept good last night.

I must say that I am sold on the practice of Reiki and I have experienced something that I didn't ever think I could, and that is a calmness and serenity at a whole new level.  I still have a ton of stress in my life but I can and do handle it much better and it doesn't last like it used to.  I am also sleeping so much better, more restful and less nightmares.  Thank you for giving me this insight and knowledge of Reiki, for I am now a firm believer."

Story (excerpts) from Ruth:

"When I took the Reiki class, I did so with an open mind.  I have heard many different things about Reiki, most of them being negative.  I have heard that Reiki was a sin.  That Reiki was something evil.  That Reiki opens the door for Satan in your life.  I have also heard that Reiki was a wonderful, relaxing practice.  That it helps you focus, concentrated and meditation on God on a new level.  I decided to see for myself.

Since I have taken the class and did research, I have my own view of what Reiki is.  To me, Reiki is a means for God to use His Healing power through people.  It has been used as far back as biblical times.  Reiki, laying on of hands, is used a lot in the New Testament. In researching Reiki, I came across an article by William Lee Rand called "Similarities between the Healing of Jesus and Reiki" (International Center for Reiki Training, 2005).  I found this article fascinating and it is what I believe that Reiki is.

In the article it speaks of the miracles that Jesus did.  It states that the most powerful of His Miracles were these healings.  These healings were done, executed, by the laying on of hands.  Another aspect that the articles talks about is that Jesus could pass the power to heal on to others, which is much like the Reiki Attunement.  We do not know how Jesus passed on this power but it is an important similarity to Reiki.

So my questions is, to those who think Reiki is evil, is that if Jesus is our Shepherd, our savior, how can something He did be a sin or evil?  I have spoken to my pastor about Reiki and I believe the same as she does.  God created everything.  There is a piece of God, His energy, His Spirit in everything.  The "energy field" that is seen or felt is that of God.

My experience with the attunement was wonderful.  When I had my attunement I felt a lightness about me and a peace that showered over me.  I could feel God's presence, His Love and Joy enveloped me.  I saw a vision of clouds opening and waves of yellow, orange, blue and purple.  It was a wonderful experience I have never felt before.

So what have I done with this new knowledge and insight?  How will I continue to tap into this power to heal and be healed?  I have practiced it on myself and feel more balanced.  I have used it to calm myself and my youngest child who tends to be a little "hyper" at times. There was one time she was running around and just would not stop for anything.  She has asthma and I was concerned that she would give herself an attack.  When I was finally able to get her to sit in my lap for a few moments, I started to do Reiki on her.  She began to calm down and just sit in my lap.  When I had her calmed down I removed my hands and she grabbed my hands and put them back.  I guess she liked having Reiki done on her.

It has drawn me closer to God and more open to hearing His still, small voice.  I am able to quite my mind and sit sill to talk with God and hear His voice instead of all the noise in my head.  In closing, I feel that Reiki is a lost art.  We have all been given gifts by God.  Healing is probably one of the least used of these gifts.  I feel it is one way for me to become more Christ-like, following the Master's footsteps.

 Thoughts for the Month

The Echo of Life

A man and his son were walking in the forest.  Suddenly, the boy trips and feeling a sharp pain he screams, "Ahhhh."  Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, "Ahhhh!"

Filled with curiosity, he screams: "Who are you?" But the only answers he receives is "Who are you?"  This makes him angry, so he screams: "You are a coward!" and the voice answers: "You are a coward!"

He looks at his father, asking, "Dad, what is going on?"

"Son," the man replies, "Pay attention!"  Then he screams, "I admire you!" and the voice answers: "You are wonderful!"

The boy is surprised, but still can't understand what is going on. Then the father explains, "People call this "ECHO", but truly it is LIFE!"

"Life always gives you back what you give out!"  Life is a mirror of your actions."

If you want more love, give more love!

If you want more kindness, give more kindness!

If you want understanding and respect, give understanding and respect!

If you want people to be patient and respectful to you, give patience and respect!

This rule of nature applies to every aspect of our lives.

Life always gives you back what you give out.

Your life is not a coincidence, but a mirror of your own doings.
